Susan L. Youshaw
Hi! I’m Susan and I am a professional photographer located in Central, PA.
I have been in love with photography for as long as I can remember. It all began when I was about 4 or 5 years old with the gift of a SnappyQ camera from my dad. I took thousands of photos of everything I saw (thanks mom and dad for developing my hundreds of rolls of film over the years). With my camera I learned that I could tell stories, create art, and preserve memories forever.
During my senior year of high school, I began to take my passion more seriously. My very first client was my friend Angel, whose family hired me to take her high school senior photos. We spent an evening at the PSU Campus and I got a number of great photos of my dear friend. When the film came back she loved her photos, and so did her parents. From that moment on, I knew that photography would be a part of my life.
In 2015, I graduated with honors from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with my Bachelors of Science in Photography. While it was always my dream to have my own studio, I never imagined a space as perfect as the one I now call home for SLY Photography. I’ve put my heart and soul into my studio, and I hope that it is a place where everyone enjoys coming to.
I’ve been published in magazines, have had work exhibited, given lectures to students, and won a few awards for both my work and client services.
On a more personal note, I’m a mom, which is seriously the greatest experience of my life (photography is a very close second). I love llamas and cats. My spirit animal is the Horse of Many Colors from the Wizard of Oz (when you see my hair, you’ll understand). I’m a little quirky, a little shy, and typically very bubbly. I am a huge fan of love, life, and making all my dreams come true.
